In late December 2017, National Oilwell Varco (NOV) announced a contract between the Flexibles group and Statoil for the supply of flexible pipes to the Johan Castberg platform in the Barents Sea. The contract covers over 30 km of flexible pipes, scheduled to be delivered in 2020 and 2021, as well as several ancillaries, with delivery to begin in 2019. This contract marks the continuation of the long-standing, close relationship between Flexibles and Statoil.

“This is a significant order for NOV in general and for Flexibles in particular,” says Michael W. Hart, President, Subsea Production Systems. “It is the farthest north we’ve ever taken our pipes, and in addition to that, over 4.8 km of the pipes will be equipped with our OptiFlex™ embedded temperature monitoring solution.”
